  • ~20 lbs
  • Broccoli Florets aka "Xi-Lan-Hua-Hua", "西兰花花", "西蘭花花"
  • Broccoli florets are the part of the broccoli that appears like tiny trees attached to small stems branching off from the thick, green stem. It has an earthy flavor with just a hint of bitterness at the end. Broccoli floret is usually steamed, sautéed, or roasted. Broccoli florets are available year-round.
Handling Tip
Selection
  • Broccoli florets are tightly packed with consistent green color and no yellowing.
  • Broccoli floret is firm to hand pressure and the bottom of the cut stem is a smooth white cut.
Storage
  • Broccoli florets should be stored at 32ºF (0ºC) with a relative humidity of ninety-eight to a hundred percent with mist.
  • Package ice is required if you cannot maintain the recommended temperature or relative humidity.
  • The typical shelf life is two to three weeks. Coldwater can revive slightly wilted broccoli florets. Long-term storage leads to discoloration, buds falling off, and softening.
  • Broccoli floret is highly sensitive to ethylene, a naturally occurring gas that regulates ripening, with a common symptom of florets yellowing. Broccoli floret should not be stored with high ethylene-producing products to extend shelf life. Broccoli floret produces very little ethylene.
  • Broccoli floret is not sensitive to chilling injury and should be stored as cold as possible without freezing.
