  • Grape is a small, smooth, and thinned skin berry that is round or oval-shaped. The color of the grape depends on the variety. May come in green, red, reddish-purple, dark blue, etc. Grape may have small seeds inside but there are also seedless options available. The tastes range from bland juicy to super sweet. Grape is available year-round.

  • Grape should be firm, plump, and tightly attached to the green stem with no signs of bruises or cut skin.
  • Look for a light silver color dusting on the fruit called bloom.
  • Avoid grapes that are shriveled or with excess moisture.
Storage
  • Grape should be stored at 30°F - 32°F (-1°C - 0°C) with a relative humidity of ninety to ninety-five percent and no mist.
  • The typical shelf life is four to seven weeks.
  • Grape is sensitive to odors and should not be stored with strong aroma products; especially leek and scallion.
  • Grape is not sensitive to ethylene, a naturally occurring gas that regulates ripening. The grape produces a very low level of ethylene.
  • Grape is not sensitive to chilling injury.
